The brief was to create areas of interest in this long rectangular garden, with a path extending from the house to a terrace at the end of the garden, positioned to enjoy the setting sun. A mature Prunus, flowering cherry tree growing in the middle of the garden needed to be incorporated in the new garden design.
The Prunus tree becomes a feature with a cirucular bed at its base, filled with a combination of Sandstone and evergreen Buxus balls and Narcissus for early colour. A path built in resin-bonded gravel curves in a wider circle around the tree, crossing the lawn with sandstone stepping stones to a walkway created with large green oak frames set at angles the path. Seating in two areas of the garden allow the garden visitor to pause and enjoy the newly planted borders.
