Gardenmakers at Chelsea Flower Show 2015

Delighted to be working on “The Beauty of Islam” show garden designed by Kamelia bin Zaal for this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Our old friend, David Dodd, of The Outdoor Room, who is working closely with Dubai based Kamelia to project manage the creation of the garden and build it, approached us in October to ask us if we would head up the planting team. Tasked with putting together an experienced group of planters, the challenge for all of us is working with a palette of plants not often seen in a Chelsea Show Garden.
Designed to be a contemporary reinterpretation of an Islamic Garden, the garden will be planted with species that reflect the broad Islamic heritage and will include Olive, Rosemary, Orange, Jasmine and Pomegranate as well as many lush leaved plants and palms that are less well known in the UK.
Kamelia, David Dodd and David Root, owner of Kelways Nursery have already made two trips to Europe to source some of the key plants and a further trip in March should finalise the plant list. Details of the recent trip can be read about in the article published in the Dubai National Newspaper (click on the link below)
