Brief: The garden design process was dovetailed with the building of the large brick & glass extension, housing an open plan modern kitchen/dining and living space. Working with the clients and their builders, the garden was planned around the minimalist interior with external materials carefully selected to work with those used internally.
An area for outdoor entertaining with a separate seating area was required along with lighting and structural planting to provide valuable year round interest.
Design: A level threshold internally and externally allows the glass doors to fold back to create a large outdoor/indoor room. Slatted lateral timber trellis adds a sense of seclusion to the seating area, positioned to catch the setting sun.
Olives, Astelia ‘Silver Spear’ and Box balls give the garden structure all year round, whilst in summer, Lavender, Verbena bonariensis and Sedum add depth of colour with their purple tones.
