garden makers are Louise Cummins and Caroline De Lane Lea, two professional garden designers who share a commitment to designing practical and stylish gardens.

Caroline and Louise trained in garden design at the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden, graduating with distinctions. In 2003 they formed garden makers to combine their knowledge & experience with their shared passion for innovative design. Their first garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2007 was awarded a Silver Medal.

Based in central London and Surrey, the practice is well placed to work on garden design projects all over the UK. Much of their work is based in London and the South of England.

Caroline De Lane Lea

Caroline worked for many years at Christies Auction House, ultimately as Operations Director at Christies Education. Through this work, she brings a broad knowledge of art and architecture to her design work, along with considerable project management expertise.

Caroline has travelled extensively and has a deep passion for landscape. This is often reflected in her design work where she likes to create spaces that provide movement and invite a journey.

Louise Cummins

The creative force driving Louise's design is her passion for plants. Before becoming a Garden Designer, Louise lived overseas, working in Europe and the Middle East.

Having gardened since childhood, Louise's interest in garden design grew from designing and planting her own and friends' gardens for many years before training in garden design. This provided a solid platform for becoming a professional garden designer.
